‘Cause Being a Designer Isn’t Exciting Enough: Zip lines and Whales.

zip lining in Puerto Vallarta What?

Afraid of heights (check), responsible Mom guilt (check), busy design practice with clients that would be kind of in the lurch if the cable snapped (check), over 40 years old (check), life insurance (check).

Random thoughts that went through my mind as I stepped off the ledge and prepared to die zip line over a 1600 foot gorge in a jungle canopy in Puerto Vallarta.

Gotta say it was a rush and a ton of fun.

We zip lined up the Sierra Madre Mountains for an hour and a half.  It was quite a work out.

And it was at the Predator movie set.  Weird.  But hey, it’s Mexico.

Predator movie set Puerto Vallarta zip lining Don’t look down Amy.  Or do and enjoy the ride.

Choices, Choices.

We went swimming in that river (the Mismaloya) afterwards.  Ice cold.

On to the next adventure… Whale Watching Puerto Vallarta

On the beach in downtown Puerto Vallarta, looking for our captain.

Canoe Oh, I’m sorry did you say the bridge washed out in a storm a decade ago (see the background on the right) and we have to get in this deathwagon canoe to take us out to our boat?

Yes.

Beans has her Daddy’s eyes covered and Nonnie is saying “Nope.”

And we have to hurry since the tide is coming in…

Check.

Beans in life jacket Try to smile and look brave.

Momma Humpback Whale with Baby And…worth it!  A Momma Humpback whale with her baby (outline in front of Momma) swimming side by side.  80 feet from us!

Los Arcos Next stop:  Los Arcos.  You can’t see it but all the trees are filled with nesting pelicans and their babies.

We decided this was a good place for Mr. V and I to jump off the boat and snorkel.

Angel Fish at Los Arcos Angel Fish!

Beans and Nonnie

My child looks like an aging starlet from the 40′s.  But hey, who wants a sunburned baby?

Adios Amigos!

Enjoy,

OMG you crack me up…thanks for a great laugh first thing in the morning! I finally tried a zip line in Vermont 2? falls ago, and it was such a blast. But I had very similar thoughts as I waited on the platform. Such cool adventures you guys had there!

  3. Such a fun post….looks like fun was had by all. But there is NO WAY I would have been daring enough to try that zipline….you are a brave cookie and I give you credit (though gotta admit it does look like fun) I am just petrified of heights and getting stuck. Your little one is darling and PV looks like it treated you well!
