Live the Laduree Way

French macaron lovers are rejoicing this morning as the first Laduree patisserie in the United States opens today on Manhattan’s Madison Avenue.

Several of my blogging friends adore these heavenly treats as much as I do including  Tina @ Enchanted Home.

I became more than slightly obsessed with French macarons while staying at the Maison Orleans at the Ritz Carlton (New Orleans) for a romantic getaway with Mr. V.

Maison Orleans is a luxury boutique hotel within the Ritz Carlton and one of their many amenities included was 24 hour food and beverage available in the club lounge.  This was a problem for me since there were apothecary jars brimming with handpainted toffees, French macarons and homemade chocolate chip cookies on a beautiful demi lune table at the elevators.

I found myself making excuses to leave the room until finally Mr. V busted me when he discovered me stuffing the pockets of my robe with French macarons.

On a funny note…

When we were out for dinner, Mr. V arranged to have our suite covered in flower petals and candles (a la the Bachelor) as a sexy surprise.

He asked the concierge to have the staff put M &Ms and peony and rose petals on the bed for me…

Romantic right?

Look closely at the spelling of “you.”

We didn’t notice it until we started “de flowering” the bed.

Back to Laduree…

I think a lot of the appeal of Laduree is the color palette and the lovely visual merchandising.  Every part of their brand is delicious.  From their packaging to the hues of the macarons themselves, I don’t know of a gal who wouldn’t like to take part in the Laduree lifestyle!

Since we can’t live inside the Laduree shop, (although I might try if I lived in Manhattan), here are some paint colors a la Laduree.

From left to right:

BM 297 Golden Honey

BM 1089 Chilled Chardonnay

BM 2086-20 Rose Parade

BM 450 Nob Hill Sage

BM 1348 Razzle Dazzle

BM 050 Pink Moire

Laduree also makes candles:

I’d have to skip Caramel with Salted Butter and Brioche but Arabian Nights and Orange Blossom might be just what my office needs.

And if you can’t wait for your trip to NYC or your mail order to arrive, you can make French macarons with the recipe HERE:

Enjoy,

  6. We saw that they were opening in Manhattan and added it to our list of stops when we go there later this year. Everything about the shop is so lovely. Wonder if they ship? We love your husband’s surprise. The misspelled word made it all the more memorable.
