Happy Labor Day!

Ahhh…the last day of summer.

Not really but it always seems that way somehow.

I’ve been in Florida for the past week installing a client’s vacation home and when I was finished I took a much needed detour to visit my MIL and splash around.

Mr. V and I LOVE to float down the Ichetucknee River at the Florida State Park and never miss an opportunity to check out and leave our cares on the river banks.

For six blissful miles we bob along in our tubes (provided by a rental company outside the park) and gaze down at the crystal clear water that is fed by underground springs.

You can see plenty of fish…

and there are numerous water birds that nest in the shrubs above.

It is quiet, peaceful and puts my mind and body at rest.

Mr. V enjoys scaring me and likes to jump into the famous Blue Hole:

Which looks like this under the water (National Geographic):

I stayed on the shore and prayed he’d come up.

He did.

Hope you have a happy and safe Labor Day and if you ever have a chance,

definitely don’t miss floating, snorkeling or boating down the Ichetucknee.

It’s a treat that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Enjoy,

I live in Gainesville, not far from the Ichetucknee park. It is truly one of the most beautiful places in Florida! As I float down the river I like to think about early natives who must have been amazed at what they found when they came across this gorgeous, animal-filled water source. I’m happy that you and the Mr. are able to enjoy it regularly.

That does look wonderfully relaxing. Hours quietly floating down a beautiful river, no screaming children-sounds a bit like what heaven might be like!
