Blogfest 2012

Helloooo from New York!   This is Blogfest 2012~

I am very excited (and humbled) to be a part of a talented group of design bloggers who have been invited to come together for three days of design events.  Sponsored by Kravet/Lee Jofa/Brunschwig & Fils, and featuring amazing events with amazing people; I had to figure out a way to fit this in my jammed schedule.

Among the events:

Monday:  we are being hosted by Margaret Russell, Editor in Chief of Architectural Digest at the Kips Bay Show House!

The fun continues at a cocktail party at Savant.  Their new 8,000 square foot Experience Center was designed by Thom Filicia who is the guest of honor.

And an after party at Savoir Beds who make bespoke and custom beds…heaven!

Tuesday includes Breakfast at Hearst Tower and time with Veranda’s Editor in Chief, Dana Caponigro who will give us a behind-the-scenes peek into the May/June issue which features Timothy Whealon and Darryl Carter.

And…we get an advance tour of the ELLE DECOR Modern Life Concept House with Editor in Chief, Michael Boodro!

Then onto the Kravet Showroom at the D & D building for time with Traditional Home Editor in Chief, Ann Maine and one of my favorite designers, Alexa Hampton!

Next we join Vicente Wolf who will show us the first ever US showroom of Baccarat Lighting!  Some of you remember this nail biter….I had to install a Baccarat chandelier (which was a SURPRISE gift for my client’s 40th birthday from her husband)…while my client was out for lunch!

The day wraps up with a party at the GE Monogram Design Center.  We will sample food prepared by the Executive Chef Tagere Southwell in the live kitchen!

Wednesday starts with breakfast at Kravet and features a studio tour to give us a peek into fabric design and product development for Kravet, Lee Jofa and Brunschwig & Fils.

Here is Suzanne Kasler (last December) showing me her line for Lee Jofa.  It’s terrific and  I have already used several of her patterns for client projects.

Next we are headed to the Museum of the City of New York to have lunch hosted by NY Spaces Magazine.  A tour of the Museum will follow.  I LOVE museums and this one includes collections of art, costumes, decorative objects and rare books!

Hard to believe there’s more but…we will have our finger on the pulse of color!  A seminar with John Turner, leading color analyst for Benjamin Moore during which we learn of the color trends for 2013.  Very exciting!

We finish up with a panel of fantastic experts…designer Miles Redd, photographer Peter Aaron and former editor of Interiors, Marisa Marcantonio.  They will share their stories and expertise on the design industry.

I am so honored to be here and will give you a full report upon my return.  Looking forward to meeting (in person) all of my blog friends/designers who I read every day and get much inspiration from.

Thank you Blogfest!  And thank you Kravet/Lee Jofa/Brunschwig & Fils for a really special time.

WHAT A TIME FOR YOU1 Almost too much cake, n’est pas? I thought the Kip’s Bay pictures were amazing and the height of luxury; being an old-fashioned type myself (bring back Louis XIII !) I liked the following ones even more. If that were possible. Veranda especially….. Your photography as always was stunning, you know really how to get the best out of every view…. Congratulations on a great tour and great photos. Love, Geoff

    Amy,
I’m so happy that we had a chance to meet in person…but only wish we had had more time to visit. The pace is always so quick and the days pass before you know it.

Wishing you a restful MDW and all the best as we head into summer!
    xoxo Elizabeth
