I’m happy for Reese Witherspoon…it seems like the universe balances out a little more when a jilted wife finds contentment in a new life. So I was even happier to see her very inviting home in ELLE DECOR.
Here is her Ojai, California ranch which was decorated by Reese’s friend, Kristen Buckingham.
Her son’s room: Turkish rug, Italian mirror, original sconces and built in bed.
Reese’s daughter’s room: 1830′s Swedish table, 1920′s tole chandelier and vintage chair. (Love the dog in the corner!)
Custom leather benches, Swedish wing c. 1760s, Directoire dining table and a William Haines lamp perched on a Biedermeier chest. Fitting that she should have something by William Haines since he was “the” decorator to old Hollywood.
Custom etagere shares a wall with a c. 1930 Carl Fischer portrait. Art Nouveau Bergere chairs flank an antique Belgian table and a Swedish Chesterfield chair lurks in the background.
The wood ceiling, chandelier and fireplace are all part of the original house. 19th century Swedish trestle table.
Settee in Rogers & Goffigon velvet, small table is from an apple tree and 19th century leather chairs sit on a rug from Pottery Barn. You read that last part correctly.
Reese’s nieces. The foundry is covered in climbing roses.
This would make me buy the house. I love this intimate, shady terrace with its antique lantern and vines.
Lars Bolander mahogany desk accompanies a 1920s Swedish chair. The floors and railing are original to the house.
For a girl who could have just about any house she wanted, I find the simplicity very refreshing and quite unexpected. Bravo Reese- hope you have many happy memories here.
Have a great weekend!

Love this and love Reese!
Love that there is a mix of high & low (at least in one room, ha)!
I love Reese’s home,I wonder if she would be interested in any of my lamps that i make. Amy please would you be nice enough to check out my website wackyladylamps.com. I recycle old lamps and make them different,my favorite is working with feathers, velvet. I noticed how we pay so much money and getting nothing exciting for the lamps. Did you finish decorating the plane? Hope to hear a pro’s response back.
Thanks again Amy.

I adore Reese and her gorgeous home! I haven’t had time to read the issue yet, but now I can’t wait! I could be very happy living in that home!
Very interesting blend of house decor, a strong personality indeed, and the added stuff by her friend. Never saw such a contrasting yet working-together ensemble. Her friend must be a genius. ASnd any man who would dump Reese Witherspoon is mad, or an alien.
i must grab my issue! magazines have been stacking up here unread, drats to busyness.
agree with you amy this is simply lovely and charming and yes! to jilted wives

I love her home…I can’t even pick a favorite room because they are all so amazing! I do love the built in beds in her kids rooms…so cozy.
Very pretty….love the nooks in the kids rooms, so cozy. A very inviting “lived in” home that looks warm and cozy.
Gorgeous! I want to attempt the rustic-but-elegant look in my home some day. Reese (or her interior designer?) absolutely nailed it.
