We are in the midst of several client projects at Amy Vermillion Interiors…
Lots of great things happening and I’m excited for upcoming photo shoots. In the mean time, here’s a project in process.
We like to call this kind of project a facelift.
Facelift: Noun/Verb. Meaning to scrape away all the old stuff but leave the bones (walls). More intense than a make over. Less intense than a full scale renovation.
This is a family room for some clients who are new to working with Amy Vermillion Interiors. They are young (my age is still young!), fun and trust their designer. I love them for that and they have been a joy to work with. The journey we started on together was to transform their family room (that they have never done anything to– except move in their old sofa) into a comfy, updated sanctuary. A place their kids could play and that they could enjoy their amazing new television and music system.
Here’s a peek at their facelift–
Two members of the Amy Vermillion Interiors Team of Fantastic Craftsmen: We just ripped up the carpet! Yay! That mantle is going to go bye bye as well as the built in behind my guys.
Before- Ceiling fan, WHITE trim.
In Process: Great Chandy and Custom Colored Paint for trim–(will blend with the grass cloth going up):
Before of Stairway and old furniture, old carpeting, old built in:
In Process: Priming the wood
My trusty painters on a ladder that makes me nervous. I mean, I know they are professionals and I’ve been seeing this kind of thing for twenty some years but c’mon.
Before: Bar and Stairway
In Process: Walls have been stripped of old painted wall covering, old carpeting has been ripped off stairs, and the majesty of a few coats of black paint! Also, we ripped out the old wet bar sink and replaced the top with a beautiful piece of Gaudi marble. Remnants are great for this type of application.
You can see the new unfinished hardwood floor we installed. A knotty hickory that has character without being too terribly pricey.
In Process: Corner of the new “bar” which has now become a serving area when my client entertains: And you can peek at the fabulous new RUNNER too! We stained the treads of the original oak darker to match the new hickory floor below.
Picking floor colors with the new cabinetry:
A peek at the fabrics, trim and grasscloth I am using:
I’ll post the “afters” when we do the photo shoot!
Another really cool large renovation is getting ready to blast off! Demo starts in 3 weeks and I couldn’t be more excited for my clients.
As always, doing business, having meetings wherever we can–sometimes that’s on the hood of my SUV!
