Whoo hoo! Fall Furniture Market 2013 is wonderful! I will be here several days and I am loving the details and finishes this time.
I have so much to share so I will have to break it up in a couple of posts…I ran into several design crushes on Saturday–including:
Bravo’s Flipping Out, Interior Therapy and Property Envy Star- Jeff Lewis!
Adore him, and his style. We both had our handy Pocket Listerine Sprays with us (best invention ever) and I’ll admit I was a little star struck. Which is why I have psycho eyes. He is very funny and incredibly handsome in person.
We also went to Henredon to see another of my faves…Celerie Kemble! She has a new collection out for Henredon and I adore her style and her creative details (which I will detail in another post). I wrote about her genius in a previous post here.
High Point Furniture Market can be so SERIOUS…so we buck that trend.
As soon as I walked into her space at Hickory Chair (I couldn’t wait to get there to get her new book signed by Miss Fabulous herself)…the shenanigans started. I’m not sure what it is about her that I love so much…her totally warm, hilarious spirit, her personal style or the amazing interiors and furniture that she designs.
Let’s talk about the showroom. Delicious layers of eggplants, plums and leaf greens. I mean…Fantastic. Even though the wallpaper is patterned, it provided almost a solid backdrop for the prints and furniture.
Alexa is feeling colorful these days and her pattern mix is playful and still sophisticated.
I adore the base on this chair. It seems Moroccan inspired to me and I love the funky chevron mixed with the delicate print.
Alexa’s Natalie Chair has always been a favorite and I love it white with a small stripe to play on the tri flutes on the frame.
Occasionally- we like to do karate.
Simon Bench– get over to my bedroom! Putting a plaid on a tufted bench is gutsy. But Hickory Chair’s upholsterers are masters and if anyone can line up a plaid correctly on a diamond tufted top, they can!
Love the mix of patterns and textures on the bed. The plum velvet is wonderful!
Rich and inviting- The oxblood velvet sofa blends beautifully on the Indian inspired wallpaper. I really love that color for Fall.
The Grant Chair gets a gorgeous twist!
If you watch Homeland (Showtime series) that is filmed in here in Charlotte, you may have noticed these Grant chairs in the doctor’s office where Dana (the daughter) goes for her psychologist appointments. In Homeland, the chairs are shown in white and I love them in this leather.
I’ve had a lot of books signed over the years but this inscription from Alexa might top the one from John Loring of Tiffany (who inscribed it to “Holly GoLightly” for me)…. Thank you Alexa! I heart you lady!
She is my soul sister…after all, who else can I hide behind furniture with and play Charlie’s Angels? Not to mention, she designed the furniture!
Until next time Alexa—and I might bring Laser Tag to next Furniture Market–I heart you.
A couple more picture of the Hickory Chair Showroom–
Lindsay and I taking a break. It’s tiring looking at beautiful stuff. (Not really we just got up super early).
Grooving on this minty console with gold detailed hardware-swoon!
Blue and White is a delight…Look at that HEADBOARD. Yummy!
I adore this no color/color. It’s a greyed out plummy pink and it sends me straight to the moon. In velvet? Someone get me a chair. I feel faint. Oh, well here’ s a nod to the 1980’s in a watercolor printed chair!
Coral and cream is a dream!
White and Black gives me a heart attack! Oh it’s so chic! Yes, yes, yes!
Oh butter velvet- where have you been all these Markets? The custom mounted light on the bookcase? Just one more reason I love Hickory Chair. I can do almost anything for my clients with their custom capability.
I think my rep told me this was Kingwood. And what king would (not) want this table? Simple, lovely and sophisticated. The grain is insane.
Aren’t you glad my new boots match the leather on this fab Suzanne Kasler “X” bench?
Well, that’s it for now friends…I am sure you are reading everyone’s delightful Market wrap ups…I’m not sure if they are rhyming or have fun pictures of Celerie Kemble and Alexa Hampton but I’m going to check out some of my recommended reading friends.
Check back, or better yet, sign up for a free subscription to my blog. I will show you the rest of my High Point finds.
Until then, hope you have a wonderful day!
