As one of the Southeast's leading interior designers, Amy Vermillion believes strongly in the collaborative relationship between client and designer. "My function as a design professional is to create, suggest and gently guide my client through the process. I take every aspect of my client's lifestyle and individual taste into consideration when working on their project. My goal is to have a client who loves their surroundings and who regards my involvement as essential."
An Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Amy holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Illinois State University and worked with a prestigious design firm on Chicago's North Shore before moving to Charlotte. In 2000, she launched Amy Vermillion Interiors and her boutique firm became respected for its expertise in renovation and new construction, particularly in architectural finishes and customized details. With a philosophy rooted in collective creativity and excellence, Amy teams with skilled craftspeople and vendors to work together in the best interest of her clients. Her firm provides a comprehensive, start-to-finish design service—guiding each project from concept development through construction as well as curated furnishings and decor.
Amy is known to have an impeccable eye for detail that makes the interiors she designs unique and fresh. An expert with color, texture and scale, she not only chooses exquisite fabrics and furnishings but has the innate ability to edit her client's existing interiors in a thoughtful manner. Drawing on her background, education and world travel, Amy is equally adept at designing traditional or modern interiors and uses that inspiration to create beautiful, layered spaces that feel collected and personal.
Her work and expertise have been featured in The New York Times Magazine, Stark Carpet's Decorating with Carpets, Southern Living, Home Design & Decor, Better Homes & Gardens, Charlotte Magazine, QC Exclusive, SouthPark Magazine, and others. Amy is a frequent public speaker, podcast guest and has served as an ambassador for several luxury home brands. She is the recipient of two CotY (Contractor of the Year) Awards for design excellence and was named the Southeastern Regional Winner in the prestigious Sub-Zero Wolf Kitchen Design Contest—recognitions that reflect her creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship.
Outside of her design practice, Amy enjoys traveling, gardening, antiquing, and spending time with her daughter and dog Dolly. She is an active member of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, the Mint Museum Auxiliary, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Brookgreen Gardens.
